If you’re a big fan of trumpets, this is your weekend. Arturo Sandoval (Saturday and Sunday night) and Herb Alpert (Saturday night) are in town. For everyone else, here are a few highlights: 

1. James McMurtry - son of Texan novelist Larry McMurtry, Stephen King says he might “be the truest, fiercest songwriter of his generation..." He’ll be at Heights Theater Friday night.

2. Yaupon - describing themselves as groovy indie with touches of alt country, psychedelia, and loud rock, this excellent local band will be found at Dan Electro’s Friday night.

3. Big Bite/Touch Girl Apple Blossom - one alt/indie rock band from Seattle, another from Austin, both promise to bring a great show to The End Sunday night.
